Zangdok Palri Institute's Central building
The Zangdok Palri Institute is envisioned as a cultural
and education center serving a poor rural community of some 10 000 people
spread over an area of 5 000 km2 in Kham, Eastern Tibet. It will provide
full education for the lay people of the Dzogchen area, who have until
now had no access even to basic literacy.
The aim of the Institute is to:
- offer good studying conditions and easy access
to knowledge
- preserve one of the treasures of human kind,
the ancient wisdom tradition which is Tibet's cultural heritage
- provide a platform for dialog and exchange
between eastern and western students, scholars and researchers

The Zangdok Palri Institute
will be a resource center where traditional skills and modern technology
come together to enrich the lives of today's young people. It
will create the basis for the community to be able to build a more
prosperous and self-sufficient future. |
In seeking to attain these objectives, the Zangdok
Palri Institute is making a major contribution to goals of the
Zangdok Palri programme goals. .
